Christmas for Kids 2013

CFK_Primary_BlueThe goal of our program is to take underprivileged grade school children from the greater metro area on a holiday shopping trip at the Hollywood Fred Meyer in NE Portland.  Children are nominated by either their school principal or counselor and represent over 53 schools and 14 districts.

This year we took 207 kids shopping, with siblings we help over 690 children and many of their parents.  All totaled these kids and their families received over $150,277.00 in value.  The Christmas for Kids Foundation operational budget this year (money not spent on the kids), was $2,699.75 or just 1.80%.  For every dollar donated a child/family received $2.51 of value.

We have keeping detailed records for the last nine years.  Over this timeframe, CFK has provided over $1,154,813.00 in total value.  1990 children were shopped with along with 3,924 of their siblings.  Over 3,795 adults volunteered their time to help out the day of the event!

I personally want to thank all of the sponsors and especially the corporate sponsors who without their assistance CFK would not be able to continue the program!

I have personally participated in this event for the last 22 years and each year I’m reminded how many things most of us take for granted.  Without this program these kids, and their families, would not have a Happy Holiday.

May you and yours have a Blessed Holiday!
