The Southeast Community Food Pantry and Clothes Closet provides emergency help to any and all persons who find themselves in difficulties because their basic needs cannot be met, whether due to economic hardship, illness, loneliness, old age, blindness, family disintegration, loss of employment or education.  We give around 800 pounds of clothes monthly, and we provide food boxes to nearly 800 families each month.

The SEC Food Pantry does not charge for any of the services provided to its clients or to the community. We work to ensure that those served have the opportunity to learn the steps necessary to gain their independence.  Most of the people we serve are from Southeast Portland, but many people also seek help from all of Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas counties in Oregon and from Washington State.  Having started as a small outreach from a local church in 2008, the Food Pantry has now grown to the point that in 2014, we became incorporated as a non-profit entity for the purpose of providing even better service to the growing numbers of people in need who are requesting our help.

Walk-in Hours:  Monday & Thursday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, Wednesday 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Please let us know if you have any special food needs.

Harvest Share: FREE produce give away at 10:00 am – 11:30 am on the 4th Thursday every month!
Note:  The rest of the SEC Food Pantry and Clothes Closet is closed on Harvest Share days.

How Can You Help?

  • The SEC Food Pantry gladly accepts donations such as financial gifts, canned foods (vegetables, fruits, soups, chili, tuna), packaged foods (peanut butter, cereals, rice, pasta), fresh produce, personal care products, small household utensils, and clothing.
  • We also need both regular and one-time volunteers to pick up/unload deliveries, answer phones, pack food boxes, stock food and clothing, interview clients, and do office work.
  • We love to welcome businesses, community groups, and families to come for an educational tour and then try their hand at packing food boxes.  Even children can learn how to make a difference in their own community by serving those in need!
